A powerfully rendered 2009 Pomerol that will need cellaring to assimilate. Best from 2014 through 2027. -JM

We can thank the new owners who had the foresight to hire Hubert de Bouard as their consultant. This blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc from the relatively sandy soils of this vineyard situated well-off the tenderloin plateau of Pomerol has a dense purple color and oodles of plum sauce interwoven with blueberry raspberry and black cherry notes. Full-bodied opulent fleshy and very sexy it should be drunk over the next decade.

Hubert de Boüard de Laforest co-owner of Angelus consults here. Black and red berry compote lead the rich primary fruit driven nose. The palate is linear and focused and balanced in its lush ripeness silky and sexy in texture with hints of sweet baking spice that add lift. A mouthwatering example of the ripe essence of pure Merlot fruit. Lovely right out of the gate.
