While noted for their Puligny wines, Domaine Leflaive farms four acres of vines just across the border in Meursault, capturing a pure expression of the stone fruit and limestone character of this vineyard, their sensitive farming amplifying the distinctions of the terroir in 2009. It’s an elegant wine on a grand scale, with the fresh juiciness of nectarine and the woodsy notes of pear skin. Check on this six to eight years from the vintage, as a partner for crab or langoustines.

A mild touch of reduction is not enough to stifle the otherwise elegant and cool aromas of roasted nut and citrus nuances that add breadth to the ripe orchard fruit aromas that introduce mineral-inflected and vibrant middle weight flavors that possess fine balance on the sappy round and delicious finish. This should drink well early but age well too.
