Light and juicy, this is bright with plum and currant fruit playing against refined tannins and fragile acidity, lingering on the transparent finish. This has all the elements, just needs cellaring. Drink now through 2017. 464 cases made. –HS

Ripe and firm at once, this generous red possesses a smoky oak top note, with hints of cocoa over ripe black cherry fruit. On the palate the wine seems frisky and forward, its textbook pinot flavors marked by plenty of power and extraction, going to the brink, then pulling back.

Hints of peat-like smokiness and fish oil as well as brown spices tinge red raspberry and cherry in the nose of Peterson-Nedry’s 2009 Pinot Noir Stoller Vineyard, which displays primary juiciness and vivacity uncommon for its vintage. There is a sweetness to the fruit here that goes beyond the corresponding 2010, but that wine still has the edge in terms of interactive complexity and sheer energy. I would expect this to be worth following for at least 6-8 years. - David Schildknecht

A highly perfumed nose of pure red pinot fruit is trimmed in notes of sandalwood and cinnamon nuances. There is an overtly opulent texture to the medium weight flavors that coat the palate on the supple and round middle, all wrapped in an ever-so-mildly bitter finish. This may or may not round out but the bitterness is such that it's quite subtle and will probably not be an impediment as the wine ages.
