An expressive and quite fresh nose features beautifully layered aromas of ripe red berry fruit wet stone and earth. There is excellent vibrancy and detail to the restrained middle weight flavors that possess plenty of underlying tension on the balanced long and really quite stylish finish. This is a classy and sophisticated effort that offers excellent length and focused power. - Comments: Outstanding ♥

I must say that whilst I adored the 2009 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras in its youth, it is not developing with quite the aplomb I was hoping. It has a complex bouquet with an undercurrent of savouriness, dried blood and brown spices, perhaps just a touch more advanced than I was expecting. The palate is smooth and sensual on the entry that is a doppelganger for a Vosne-Romanée. Plush and sumptuous, it is a sexy Nuits Saint Georges but I wanted something more cerebral on the finish. It is an excellent Aux Cras...but it does not quite deliver on the promise it showed 2-3 years ago. Tasted June 2015. - Neal Martin
