This has almost completely integrated what was relatively generous wood and now the attractively elegant nose displays lovely and fresh red berry fruit and pungent earth aromas that are nuanced by subtle stone notes. The round and naturally sweet medium-bodied flavors brim with both plenty of dry extract and a fine minerality that continues onto the seductively textured and relatively fine finish where a touch of wood can be discerned. Champeaux can easily give hard wines if the phenolics aren't completely ripe but since that is not the case here, this is actually relatively generous and fleshy. It should benefit from 10 to 12 years of cellar time.
