CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY 1er Cru Borniques 2009 (from a calcaire-rich enclave that's essentially the northern continuation of Musigny) Good full deep red. Wild yet delicate soil-driven aromas of flowers and white pepper. Juicy intense and imploded with red berry fruit currently dominated by spices and flowers. Wonderfully precise weightless wine that's already showing compelling inner-mouth perfume. The long dusty subtle scented aftertaste really titillates the taste buds.

It is a bit more focused and driven than the Charmes but nearly as engaging. This parcel has been farmed biodynamically since 2008. Les Borniques is a small vineyard that sits next to Musigny. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027.

The nose is first lush with primary red and black fruits then cedar nuances with a continuous background note of light miso. On the palate the juicy full body expresses a range of ripe fruit flavors including red apple pomegranate orange citrus strawberry and red cherry. Zippy acidity and subtle toast notes give this mouthwatering ripeness. Irresistible now this will continue to develop in the coming years.
