Not especially outgoing at this point yet convincing as to variety and promising in its tight seemingly concentrated black cherry fruit this wine picks up a slight hint of bark to go along with its toasty oak and quiet but evident dried flower notes. Somewhat round to start with young tight fruit underneath and bracing acidity in the finish this one simply screams "potential" and asks for three to five years of patient cellaring in order to come fully into its most attractive self.

It shows deliciously ripe and forward cherry raspberry bacon and spice flavors in a silky clean texture. There's an edge of tannins but not so much that you couldn't enjoy it now and over the next six years.

Most of the wine's appeal is in its upfront juiciness as it loses some persistence on the palate. Overall this is a slightly less elegant style than is the norm here. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017.
