Wine & Spirits, December 2018

A similar blend to the 2009 Brut, this includes 15 percent pinot noir still wine from the Montagne de Reims. That red wine takes it in a vinous direction, with notes of anise, violets and cranberries all held in a brisk...

Wine Enthusiast, December 2018

This perfumed wine has just the right color and lively, crisp acidity. The full-bodied feel is very much the house style of this producer, giving richness from ripe red fruits as well as balanced acidity to finish. The...

Wine Spectator, December 2018

Rich accents of smoke and pastry lead to white raspberry and apricot fruit, ground ginger and Earl Grey tea notes in this firm, well-knit rosé Champagne. Long and creamy on the lightly spiced finish. Drink now through...

jamessuckling.com, September 2018

I like the 2009 vintage for rosé. Here, it delivers a playfully fruit-fueled core of bold cherries and watermelon with some chalky moments on the palate. This has a very inviting attitude. Drink now.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, August 2018

Blending 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay with 15% Pinot Noir red wine from the Montagne de Reims, Pol Roger's 2009 Vintage Brut Rosé displays an intense salmon/onion color and a rich, vinous bouquet of red berries and...

Pol Roger is one of the oldest and most-distinguished luxury Champagne firms. Based in the heart of Epernay, it was established in 1849 and remains one of the few family-owned, grande-marquee Champagne houses. Five generations have remained loyal to the firm’s essential values of excellence and independence, ensuring that each wine is treated as an impeccable ambassador to their 160 years of history.

Pol Roger has carved out one of the most flattering reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. A personal favorite of Sir Winston Churchill (who has the firm’s top cuvee named after him), Pol Roger champagne has also been the British Royal Family’s choice over the years.

The house grows more than half its grapes on 89 estate hectares and sources the rest from select growers. Their cellars extend below the Avenue de Champagne for over seven kilometers on two levels. The deeper cellar maintains a lower temperature for the wine to develop finer bubbles.

The Pol Roger portfolio includes a vintage brut, a non-vintage brut, a brut nature, a demi sec, a vintage rose, a blanc de blancs and the Sir Winston Churchill prestige cuvee.

The Pol Roger Rose Vintage is based on their Brut Vintage (60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay) to which they add, before the bottling and second fermentation, approximately 15% of still red wine (Pinot Noir) from the best crus of the Montagne de Reims. Produced only in limited quantities, the Brut Rose Vintage is aged 7 years in their cellars before being released onto the market.
