I was also able to taste the 2009 Rothwell Hyde and it shows nicely, with a medium to full-bodied, mature, complex style. Lots of bay leaf, cured meats, tobacco, and assorted dark fruits all define the bouquet. These carry to a balanced, silky, elegant wine that has plenty of Abreu character, terrific depth of fruit, and a great finish. It’s mature and drinking well, yet should evolve gracefully for another 10-15 years.
