Deep burnished purple black in color with a thick translucent garnet rim the bouquet initially highlights some fresh airy herb scents that quickly waft away as some deeper fruit aromas make their presence known. Creamy blackberries minerals and smoke form the core of the nose that suggests some significant improvement will come when the wine gets some air. Showing a fresh presence at the core of the palate thanks to just the right amount of acidity the dark fruit flavors of black cherries and blackberries are intense and elegant at the same time gaining richness as it sits in the glass. The finish is full of softly textured fruit that lingers for some time with a subtle trace of dusty tannin. This iconic wine will provide delicious drinking today with some air but know that previous vintages have proved to be stunning wines after a decade in the cellar.
