Wine Spectator, October 2013

Well-built, with a firm core of dark berry, cherry and wilted rose, showing good density and intensity. This gains depth and holds focus, ending with ripe, chewy tannins. Drink now through 2022. – JL

Hall Wines is a family-owned, critically acclaimed premier Napa Valley vineyard and winery with five estate vineyards of classic Bordeaux varietals. Craig and Kathryn Walt Hall arrived in Napa Valley in 1995 with a singular vision to develop a great wine estate, showcasing Napa Valley’s finest variety: Cabernet Sauvignon.

Hall Wines comprises two wineries in Napa Valley at which wine, art, architecture, and a responsibility to the environment come together. The intimate Hall Rutherford is the winery’s original location, adjacent to the historic Sacrashe Vineyard and the Hall family’s home. With a rich history spanning 150 years, Hall St. Helena’s location was once the home of Napa Valley Co-Op, producing 40% of Napa Valley’s Wines. Today, the Hall family has meticulously restored the 1885 Bergfeld Winery.

Hall Wines makes sustainability and eco-conscious initiatives a top priority at its wineries. The winery follows organic farming practices, with careful attention to the biodiversity of the soil.

Craig and Kathryn share a vision for a just and sustainable world and have created a unique business environment that combines financial success with social responsibility.

Hall’s Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon incorporates choice fruit from vineyards throughout Napa Valley – from small, rugged hillside sites of their partner growers to their organic estate vineyards. By blending these various lots, they create a rich panorama on the palate, a landscape of complexity and character that clearly depicts Napa Valley. This wine is richly textured, with dense ripe, velvety tannins. Blackberry, creme de cassis, cigar box, and toasted coconut flavors persist through an echoing finish and is delicious now.
