This has to be the best whites from Mouton-Rothschild ever. It is 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon. It shows lots of papaya apple pineapple character and gorgeous acidity. It's long and beautiful.

Starts with melon and verbena notes with a hint of richness before turning racy with hints of chartreuse lemon curd and vanilla and a refreshing feel. Tasted non-blind. -J.M.

Intense sauvignon blanc aromas of melon pineapple and green figs along with hints of gooseberry and sage. Then slightly less forceful on the palate with gooseberry citrus and dried herb flavors nicely complicated by a note of white peach. A little more acidity might have provided more definition and extended the wine's flavors but some tasters may prefer this wine's rich creamy texture as is. Mouton general manager Philippe Dhalluin told me that this wine underwent partial malolactic fermentation and was aged in 50% new oak; prior to his arrival the new oak percentage was 100% and that was probably too much. The sauvignon blanc is vinified using maceration pelliculaire.

A blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon the Aile d'Argent is a little reticent on the nose at first but it opens nicely to reveal scents of grapefruit dried pineapple and a touch of honeydew melon. The palate is well balanced with a rounded leesy entry good acidity the Semillon dominated the lemon curd tinged finish. Good length. Very fine. Drink 2012-2016.

Crisp elegant pineapple and smoky melon notes are present in this zesty wine.
