A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from a beautifully situated vineyard near Troplong Mondot and Trottevielle this cuvee reveals terrific fruit on the attack mid-palate and finish. Abundant cassis and black cherry characteristics are presented in a juicy savory broadly textured style. The vintage's freshness precision and zesty acids give uplift to a big opulent fleshy wine. Consume it over the next decade or more.

The Barde-Haut 2010 has a ripe nose of mulberry blackberry and cassis with a touch of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with a lot of very ripe Merlot fleshy sweet fruit that is lacking just a little freshness and tension towards the finish. This was a very late malolactic that means the sulphur is denuding brightness a little at this stage hence my plus sign. God knows how it tasted like to those critics who sampled it in early March.

I had the chance to taste this wine back in March in San Francisco when it was still going through malolactic fermentation. Now it is beautiful offering aromas of violet and rose with blackberry liquor blueberry and fresh black cherry on the nose. Silky and supple with smooth tannins this is simply delicious. Drink upon release and over the next 15 years. Excellent!
