Pulled mainly from the oldest vines in Carrick’s 49-acre vineyard, planted in 1993, this is a dynamic pinot with sleek, velvety saturation. It powers red raspberry and red cherry scents into a generous, earthen finish, and layers that beautifully bright fruit with cool, darker notes of forest floor. Well suited to several years of aging.

Medium deep ruby-purple in color, 2010 Bannockburn Pinot Noir has ripe fruit aromas of black cherries, warm raspberries and mulberries with a spicy background and some toasted notes. It has low to medium levels of grainy tannins, crisp acidity and a concentrated fruit core that lingers on a long finish. Drink it now through 2015. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown

A relatively deeply pitched combination of plum, dark berries and briar aromas leads to cool, pure and restrained middle weight flavors that are supported by appealing fine-grained tannins. The palate impression is lacy yet there is good volume on the moderately austere finish that is slightly drying. Note that my score offers the benefit of the doubt that the dryness will dissipate with a few years of cellaring.
