Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2013

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection exhibits an opaque purple color, slightly more toasty oak in the aromatics, and explosive richness on the attack, mid-palate and length. The nose is slightly more restrained...

Wine Spectator, June 2013

A seductive style that's openly fruity, showing supple plum and black cherry notes, with floral scents and spices, turning creamy and gaining a mocha-espresso-vanilla scent that's enticing. Finishes with a smooth texture...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, October 2012

Caymus Special Selection remains one of the top producers of the supple side of the style range in Napa. The wine is polished, soft and elegant. But it's not light. It's packed with spicy black and red berries, vanilla...

Caymus Vineyards was founded in Napa Valley by Charlie Wagner, his wife Belle Glos and their son Chuck in 1971. The first Caymus wine, 240 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, was released in 1972. Over the 45 years that followed, Caymus wine has become an icon of Napa Valley and production has grown to 65,000 cases.

Caymus Vineyards is still 100% family-owned. Much of their wine comes from estate vineyards, 350 acres in all, located throughout Napa Valley. The Caymus wine line-up includes Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Caymus Napa Valley Zinfandel and their flagship wine, Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon.

The signature style of Caymus wine is based on ripe fruit and mouth-filling structure. The fine, Napa Valley weather allows grapes to hang on the vine into early Fall without risk. This extended ripening yields rich, jammy fruit and plush, melt-in-your-mouth tannins.

While Caymus wines are focused just on Napa Valley Cabernet and Zinfandel, the Wagner family has other wine labels too, including Mer Soleil, Emmolo and Conundrum, the latter a trend-setting white wine.

Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection is the flagship wine of the Wagner family, produced under the guidance of Chuck Wagner. Made from the very best barrels of the vintage, the wine is not produced in difficult vintages.

Its distinctive aromas and flavors are achieved through “hang time” – leaving the fruit to hang on the vine unusually long to develop suppleness, increase color, and mature the tannins of the grapes.
