Chateau Latour, one of Bordeaux’s oldest and most famous wine producers, is a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. It’s located in Pauillac near the border with Saint-Julien.

Vines have existed on the property since the 14th century, but Chateau Latour first began producing wines of great quality in the early eighteenth century. The estate gradually came to specialize in wine production, with 38 hectares of vines in 1759 and 47 hectares in 1794.

The vineyard currently has 78 hectares in production. The grapes from the 47 hectares surrounding the chateau, known as “L’Enclos”, are used in the production of the Grand Vin. The 30 hectares outside of the Enclos are used for the Forts de Latour and the Pauillac wines. The estate is planted with about 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 2% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot on gravelly hilltops and clay subsoil.

The 2010 Chateau Latour 2022 Ex-Chateau Release is a Bordeaux Blend from the esteemed Pauillac region in Bordeaux, France. This wine is a true gem, with a deep garnet color that catches the eye and hints at the richness within. Its label boasts the iconic Chateau Latour branding, a symbol of excellence and tradition.

Upon uncorking, the aromas that waft from the glass are simply enchanting. Delicate notes of flowers, such as roses, violets, and lilacs, dance alongside dark berries like blueberries and blackberries. It is a bouquet that is both captivating and complex, inviting the senses to delve further into the experience.

On the palate, the 2010 Chateau Latour 2022 Ex-Chateau Release is nothing short of extraordinary. It is full-bodied, with velvety tannins that caress the tongue and create a luxurious mouthfeel. The flavors are dense and intense, with a beautiful combination of chocolate, berry, and currant. There is a hint of wood that lingers in the background, adding depth and complexity to the wine.

The critics have unanimously praised this vintage, with scores of 100 points across the board. James Suckling describes it as "juicy and rich," while Jeff Leve raves about its concentration and flawless balance. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate exclaims that it is "oh-so-decadent" and predicts a long and glorious future for this wine.

The 2010 Chateau Latour 2022 Ex-Chateau Release is a wine that demands patience and respect. While it is tempting to indulge in its splendor now, it is recommended to wait until 2022 to truly appreciate its potential. However, those who possess the willpower to cellar this wine for several more years will be rewarded with an experience that is nothing short of extraordinary.

This wine is a testament to the exceptional craftsmanship of Chateau Latour and the terroir of Pauillac. It is a wine that will continue to evolve and captivate for decades to come, making it a worthy addition to any serious collector's cellar.
