janeanson.com, February 2022

Hard to beat in the lineup - deep rich fruits, so much tension and power still that run right through the palate. Chocolate shavings, tobacco, cigar box, slate, crushed earth, this has depth and concentration but also...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2013

The final blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot has resulted in a wine of great power, stature, gravitas and density. The wine has a black purple color and a brilliant nose of scorched earth, creme de cassis...

Saint-Pierre From a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Merlot this deep ruby colored wine shows a cassis oak floral spice and jammy black raspberry nose. On the palate the tannic concentrated sweet jammy...

Neal Martin's Wine Journal, March 2014

Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. This is a strong showing from Saint Pierre. For sure, the 2010 feels more introverted on the bouquet with dusky black fruit, truffle, tobacco and graphite scents that...

Vinous, April 2020

Two bottles of the 2010 Saint-Pierre were poured, the first just slightly oxidised. The bouquet is comparatively light with blackberry and raspberry aromas, never really quite taking off from the glass like others. The...

Wine Enthusiast, June 2011

Immensely dark structured pure fruit and tannin a wine that pushes its weight. It never goes too far with a sense of restraint giving the wine elegance.

The smallest of the Saint-Julien crus, Chateau Saint-Pierre was first established in the 17th century, although a number of legacies subsequently led to the property being split up and dispersed. In 1982, through a combination of good luck and tenacity, current proprietor Henri Martin, who owned neighboring Chateau Gloria, was able to put the estate back together the way it had been in 1855, the year of the famous classification.

Ever since, thanks to the investments made by the owners, Saint-Pierre has been acknowledged as a perfect representative of the Grands Crus Classes of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. The estate vineyards, located in the middle of the commune of Beychevelle. These, cover 17 hectares which are planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, on soils of Gunzian gravel over clay and sand, and an average vine age of 50 years.

The grapes for Saint-Pierre’s red wine are picked by hand and vinified in the traditional way in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine then spends 14 to 16 months being aged in casks, half of which are replaced every year. The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.
