Though still compact and firm this red is pure offering cherry berry and mineral flavors on a well-toned frame. Balanced in an athletic way with a lingering aftertaste of fruit and spice. Both intense and elegant showing terrific length. Best from 2015 through 2028. 160 cases imported. - B.S.

Noticeable reduction renders the nose difficult to evaluate. By contrast there is excellent concentration to the powerful and broad-shouldered medium weight plus flavors that are shaped by very firm and ever-so-mildly rustic tannins on the intensely earthy finish. While this will not win any awards for elegance as Porrets St. Georges is almost always among the most tannic of the Nuits 1ers it offers plenty of character in a decidedly ageworthy package.

This wine is structured, but it has ripe red fruit that cushions the firm tannins. It is dense, and it offers a fine harmony of flavors as well as a burst of acidity on the finish. With its tannins, this should age for many years.
