This is indisputably richer and riper than the regular cuvée with its velvety powerful and broad-shouldered flavors that display an abundance of dry extract that buffers the notably firm tannins before terminating in a velvety and mouth coating finish. The 2010 Nuits St. Georges La Richemone Ultra from a vineyard planted in 1902 is super-finessed and classy. The fruit seems to hover on the palate. Dark cherries plums sweet spices and mint are some of the many notes that come together in the glass. The precise understated finish is beautifully articulated. Made from grapes sourced from vines planted in 1902 this is a huge powerful minerally wine. It's currently tight as a drum with solid tannins and great density that pair with ripe plum and wood flavors. The acidity that appears on the finish promises long-term aging.
