An exotic bouquet redolent of incense tar licorice and smoke melds into a core of expressive dark fruit as this powerful Burgundy opens up in the glass. The Rognets impresses for its energy and focus both of which it has in spades. An exuberant expressive finish has the last say in this fabulous Corton. Anticipated maturity: 2020-2030. --- Antonio Galloni

This is a big boy with rich powerful and imposingly concentrated large-scaled flavors that brim with mouth coating and tannin-buffering dry extract that terminates in an explosive and dazzlingly persistent finish. It's interesting as this juxtaposes a velvety palate feel against the muscle of a serious Corton. Drink: 2022+

The 2010 Rognet was showing excellent potential at the time of my visit, delivering a deep and classy nose of red and black cherries, coffee bean, bonfires, incipient notes of game, a beautiful base of stony soil tones and a dollop of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a rock solid core of fruit, superb soil inflection, ripe, well-measured tannins and outstanding length and grip on the tangy and perfectly focused finish. This is a superb wine in the making.
