Lovely rich fruit that is sleek rather than plum with an appealing sweetness that's balanced by fine ripe tannins. The wine builds in the mouth revealing layers of dark fruits some floral/violet notes anise/spice/Thyme and classy oak. Quite intense and with depths of flavour that are not yet apparent but will no doubt emerge with bottle age.

Plush and rich exhibiting dried lavender black cherry and plum flavors that show details of white pepper and notes of forest floor even a touch of pine. Supple smooth details of Earl Grey tea chime in on the long finish... Densely packed and rich in extract with dark berry and earth flavors complicated by a smoky minerality. This has more depth and concentration than all but a handful of New Zealand pinots. Finishes very long sweet and thick with plenty of energy for aging. (An earlier bottling was every bit as satisfying and even more appealing in its youth. It showed a candied character on the nose followed by a supersweet plush creamy palate with lovely depth and just enough restraint to its concentrated red and darker berry flavors. I would have been tempted to drink this bottle over the next few years for its uncanny sweetness of fruit.)
