Reticent slightly reduced aromas of black cherry leather game and espresso plus some oak yet to be absorbed. One senses the strong potential of this very dense primary wine but it's still an infant today and not yet revealing its underlying complexity. But this is rich sweet and soil-drven finishing with substantial broad dusty tannins and savory earthy nuances. This will need several years in the bottle to come into harmony.

This is also notably restrained and quite cool though the wood is presently strong enough to all but dominate the dark berry fruit and wet stone nuances. There is excellent energy to the tension-filled and overtly muscular flavors that exhibit fine power and concentration on the linear dry clean and austere finish that delivers outstanding length. This is quite awkward today and the wood is far from subtle but the underlying phenolics and density of material are such that it seems relatively certain that this will come together in time. Note however that it will need plenty of it.
