La Gomerie produced from 100% Merlot offers deep color silky textures licorice with melted black cherries earth and truffle scents. Sensuous in texture the wine ends in opulent layers of ripe black raspberries and licorice.

The fruit and velvety tannins in this wine are beautiful with chocolate and berry character. Love the texture. Always sexy.

Yet this is perhaps a touch overextracted with the finish clamping down slightly. There's plenty of flesh though so may fill out after élevage. Wait and see. -J.M.

This has a very glossy bouquet similar to the Beausejour Becot a second sample at a negociant more refined and delineated with pure dark cherry Maraschino and vanilla. The palate is rich and dense not quite as over-the-top as the nose implied with some fine tensile tannins towards the focused finish. The nose seems to calm down in the glass improving all the time. Smooth and seductive towards the finish.

Yields were 30 hls/ha. 100% new oak for aging. Alcohol 14.5%. The nose displays notes of plum roasted currant and spice intermixed with turned earth and licorice. Spicy and rich the palate exhibits flavors of cranberry and pepper while the mid palate features integrated acidity and supple tannins leading to an earthy yet fruit-driven finish. This has a long life ahead of it. Kudos to the Becots! Jean-Philippe Fort consults on this 1000 case production.
