There are approximately 120 cases of the 2010 Gigondas Le Poste a nearly perfect effort. Its inky/blue/purple color is followed by aromas of flowers blackberries blueberries boysenberries graphite and camphor. It offers an aromatic smorgasbord of wonderful scents and hits the palate with a full-bodied thunderous mouthfeel revealing lots of texture a multidimensional build and a 45 +-second finish. This is an amazing tour de force in winemaking from Louis Barruol.

This manages to take a wide range of fruits-loganberry raspberry blackberry plum and more-and melds them all together with a coulis feel that retains freshness and precision while extra notes of iron tobacco charcoal and espresso expand through the finish. This has serious weight and depth with massive structure but also chiseled cut thanks to vivacious acidity. Amazing from start to finish. Best from 2015 through 2035. -J.M.
