The depth to the fruit is evident, black cherry, chocolate shavings and black truffles with great shots of acidity through the entire body of the wine. Just dripping with succulent fruit and seduction, this is the most Pomerol of the lineup, surprisingly, perhaps, taking that crown from the 2009. Still young even at 11 years old, will settle in and open further over the next few years. Violet aromatics curl out of the glass as it opens. 85% new oak. A yield of 39hl/ha.

The nose is exuberant with pure violets and berries. Insane. This is so straight and racy with super fine tannins and a long long finish. There is a minimalist clarity to the wine. Superb.

Just loaded with notions of blackcurrants, damp earth, tobacco leaf, violets and toasty oak, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building, ripe tannin, and a huge finish. Sexy and opulent, yet also classy and elegant, it’s a sensational Pomerol that has another three decades of life ahead of it.

The brilliant La Conseillante 2010 has a vibrant bouquet with bright black fruit, pencil box and attractive tertiary notes coming from the Cabernet Franc component. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry. This Pomerol is very well balanced, very refined and composed with very well judged acidity and a judicious dash of spice enlivening the finish. Jean-Michel has fashioned a wine that is utterly delightful and will age with style over the long-term. This is a benchmark for La Conseillante.

Due to the high levels of acidity from 3.69 pH there is no sensation of heat. Floral chocolate truffle and black raspberry liqueur aromas exude from the glass. Dark and powerful a unique character for La Conseillante the wine is rich intens and filled with plum liqueur chocolate and black cherry. The wine combines freshness silky textures and a sense of refined elegance with the volume turned up. Jean- Michel Laporte feels 2010 is in the same style as 2005.

The hard edges are fully absorbed by the core of plum sauce, steeped blackberry and warm boysenberry reduction notes. The finish offers gorgeous tobacco and ganache accents lurking in the wings, along with flickers of anise and incense that should guide this version to increased elegance with age. Best from 2016 through 2034. –JM

Full-bodied, the palate is firm and chewy with a lively line cutting through the densely packed, savory layers, finishing a little warm and lifted.-LPB
