The La Croix de Beaucaillou 2010 has a touch of camphor on the nose that is very ripe and nicely defined - much more modern in style compared to its peers and attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, plenty of fleshy ripe black fruit and a very composed and quite sophisticated finish. This is a second wine delivering grand cru quality.

The La Croix de Beaucaillou is a stellar example of the vintage- poised concentrated and impressively light on its feet for this powerhouse vintage. The bouquet offers up a fine blend of cassis black cherries cigar smoke a lovely base of soil a touch of graphite and a topnote of cedar. On the palate the wine is deepfull-bodied and nascently complex with beautiful balance ripe well-integrated tannins and very good length and grip on the ripe and pure finish. An impressive effort. 2020-2050+.

Another year or two will add a lot to this richly textured wine and its espresso bean, black cherry and forest floor nose. The clean, supple, flavorful finish will get better as well.
