Full-bodied and intense on the palate with polished tannins and a long soft finish. Juicy and pure. Drinks well already, but will of course soften with time. Second wine of Pomerol's sensational L'Eglise Clinet. Better in 2017.

The second wine of L’Eglise-Clinet is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It displays great precision on the nose with scents of wild strawberry, blood orange and a hint of tangerine, all with sizzling definition and zest... The second wine of L’Eglise-Clinet is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It displays great precision on the nose with scents of wild strawberry, blood orange and a hint of tangerine, all with sizzling definition and zest. This is so lively and “animated”. The palate is medium-bodied: lifted on the entry with dense dark berry fruit laced with crushed stone and a touch of black tea. Like all of Denis Durantou’s 2010, this is underpinned by extraordinary freshness and vitality, whilst the finish has immense precision.

The bouquet slowly opens to reveal seductive aromas of bacon soy and fennel supported by polished oak. The medium-weighted fruit is pure with underlying structural components that create a firm backpalate linked to the fine tannins on the finish with just the right amount of soft concentrated fruit. Seamless and showing great balance and finesse the focus here is on supple structural elements that bode well for cellaring. Drink through 2031.
