La Tour Figeac is made by Christine Derenoncourt the wife of Stephane Derenoncourt. In 2010 the apple does not fall far from the tree with this wine 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc blend. Licorice spice jammy black cherry aromas open to a suave lush fennel spice and ripe dark berry finish.

Abundant ripe Merlot dominated the nose with mulberry cherry liqueur and crème de cassis: heady and exotic. The palate is rounded almost mellifluous on the entry low acidity layers of decadent ripe red-berried fruit swathed puppy fat but somehow it manages to retain good definition on the finish. Well crafted.

The alcohol is more modest at 14% than many other St.-Emilions, but the wine displays a sumptuous personality, with loamy, sandy soil notes interwoven with black currant, blueberry and sweet cherry, some floral nuances and a touch of toasty oak. It is a rich, full-bodied wine with moderate tannin. Give it several years of cellaring and drink it over the following 15 or more years. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

A solid, fleshy style, with ganache and tobacco up front, followed by ample layers of plum sauce, steeped fig and dark currant preserves. A ganache edge lingers nicely through the finish, with a tarry echo as well. There's power to this, but ultimately the wine has purity at its core. Best from 2015 through 2030. – JM

Ripe fruity nose with plums, blueberries and strawberries. Walnuts too. Full-bodied and with ripe pure fruit on the palate. Nice chalky mineral note in the medium-long finish. Fine tannins and really smooth offering, really enjoyable drinking already now. But, of course, will improve with age.
