Ripe and dense, but still backward, with notes of bitter almond and orange zest holding the core of mango, papaya, fig, pear and Jonagold apple flavors at bay for now. Offers gorgeous mouthfeel through the finish, with ample but well-integrated toasted almond and piecrust notes. Best from 2013 through 2017. – JM

Pulled from the steepest, gneiss-filled slopes of St-Joseph, this is a powerful white, bound up in its youthful vigor. The fruit is so ripe it reminds of the wines from nearby Condrieu, warm and peachy, yet with a green apple crunch to its acidity and a cool stoniness underneath. With hours open it turns more ethereal, opulently fragrant, intimating that it will benefit from another couple of years in the cellar.

Explosively perfumed aromas of pit fruits, orange marmalade, violet and honey, with a touch of vanillin oak. Lush and creamy in texture, with excellent focus to its nectarine and candied citrus fruit flavors. Finishes with lingering floral and spice notes and excellent persistence. This exotic wine is delicious right now.
