Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux 2010 tasting. The Pape-Clement Blanc 2010 has a very pleasant bouquet, well defined with well-integrated oak: light touches of apple blossom, lemon sherbet and a touch of beeswax. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, driven by the ripe Semillon that lends this volume and an appealing waxy texture, armed with a dash of lemongrass enlivening the tip of the tongue on the finish. This is a seductive, sensual Pape-Clement Blanc.

Knockout aromas of wax, pear and white peach reminded me more of semillon than sauvignon blanc. Enters the mouth chewy, big and fleshy, with very rich apple, pear, hazelnut and banana cream pie flavors, then turns increasingly tannic on the long, oaky finish. Really great stuff here: all it needs is a little time to digest its oak. This will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy a richer, creamier style of white Bordeaux with ripe tropical fruit and buttery notes. - Ian D'Agata

Opulent and ripe, this is a powerful, wood-aged wine. It has a fine mix of tropical fruits, spice and vanilla. The richness is cut through with pink grapefruit to give a fine sense of poise and balance. Age for at least... Opulent and ripe, this is a powerful, wood-aged wine. This is a juicy and luscious white. Not the perfect 2009. But really delicious and impressive. It's full-bodied, with creamy, floral and apple pie character. Lots of new wood and ripe fruit. Better in 2015. But up front... This is a juicy and luscious white. Not the perfect 2009. But really delicious and impressive. It's full-bodied, with creamy, floral and apple pie character.
