The 2010 Beaune Clos du Roi is a huge wine bursting with dark cherries plums menthol and spices. Firm yet silky tannins frame the intense powerful finish. This is Boillot's first plot to ripen. A notably ripe nose of cassis plum earth and underbrush leads to rich generous and velvety flavors that possess a seductive mouth feel as well as excellent complexity on the balanced and impressively persistent finish... Clos du Roi is far from being the best 1er in Beaune but this is really quite good. - Comments: Outstanding ♥

Wilder on the nose than the Savigny with black cherry and smoke aromas complicated by hints of dark chocolate and leather. Juicy and quite tight in the mouth with the wine's acidity a bit dominant in the early going. Cherry and mineral flavors emerge with air. Finishes distinctly saline and classically dry.
