A wonderfully beguiling inner mouth perfumed of spice and black fruit liqueur adds considerable interest to the intensely mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that possess a highly sensuous mouth feel all wrapped in a transparent tension-filled and impeccably well-balanced finish that delivers truly superb length. This is an exceptionally classy and refined effort.

Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. The 2010 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Reignots is a magnificent follow-up to the 2009 with very precise blackberry and briary scents, a hint of dried violet petals developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannins and a clinical seam of acidity that delivers a sense of symmetry. It is not quite touching the 2005 in terms of quality but it comes damn close thanks to its marvelous freshness. Tasted June 2015. - Neal Martin
