Moderate wood frames a wonderfully spicy nose of red and dark berry fruit that also displays lovely floral notes in particular violet as well as an herbal hint. The wood is sufficiently strong to influence the texture of the very rich and overtly muscular broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration and again plenty of dry extract. The powerful and linear finish is not especially refined but this is very serious and the amount of stuffing is such that this should eventually integrate the oak treatment.
