The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs-Chenys Vieilles Vignes is youthful but expressive, opening in the glass with a nose of stewed plums, glossy black cherry, meaty soil tones and a subtle and nicely integrated framing of oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, expansive and quite open-knit, though appropriately deep and resolved at the core, with good acidity and ripe, savory tannins. A very fine village Gevrey that shows its propinquity to Charmes-Chambertin in style and character if not dimension. - William Kelley
