A southern Rhone-like blend of 43% Mourvedre, 38% Grenache and 19% Syrah, the 2010 Altas Vinas is a beauty. Dense and meaty, with the Mourvedre really showing, it delivers loads of smoked black fruits, licorice, roasted meats and mineral qualities on the nose. This flows to a full-bodied 2010 that has a rich, full texture, solid mid-palate depth and a focused, structured finish. As with the Grenache, it needs a handful of years to come together and will shine for upwards of a decade. Drink 2014-2020. - Jeb Dunnuck
