Whole-bunch and fermented in old casks the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc is a little muted on the nose at first: subtle grassy aromas a touch of crushed stone with hints of beeswax and wax resin. The palate is very natural with succinct mineral and waxy notes with touches of pear skin and honeysuckle on the phenolic finish. This is a complex engaging Sauvignon Blanc. Drink now-2015. -NM

The nose hints at citrus then veers into fresh-cut hay and baking spice. Brilliant and pronounced acidity coats the initial palate yielding to an elegant mouthfeel which rounds out with flinty mineral notes and a slightly herbaceous finish. This biodynamically farmed and produced Sauvignon Blanc from one of South Africa's most innovative wineries is the perfect companion for fresh greens savory pastries and vegetarian cuisine. Bravo!
