Medicinal red fruits and a hint of menthol on the nose. Sweet dense and sappy on the palate with urgent soil-driven flavors of raspberry pepper spices and minerals. Finishes long and perfumed with black fruit and crushed stone flavors that easily outlast the wine's tannins. Impressive potential.

(BH90-93 points) Here the cool airy and restrained nose displays notes of black pinot fruit stone and plenty of Vosne style spice. The classy and sophisticated medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of minerality as well as very fine if firm tannins that coat the palate on the well-delineated finish. A classic Beaux Monts of refinement and understatement.

Roche de Bellene, Maison

Maison Roche de Bellene is a negociant business in Burgundy launched in 2009 by Nicolas Potel, the owner of Domaine de Bellene. The business offers only the finest wines in limited cuvees to achieve its goal: to be the only “Haute Couture" negociant in Burgundy. Grapes are sourced from the same growers that Nicolas has been working with the last 15 years, who are either BIO certified or practice sustainable farming methods. The range of wines includes the widest selection of Grand Crus, prestige cuvees and individual terroirs from old vines both the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.

Bellene comes from the name “Belenos”, an ancient Gallic god of sun and beauty similar to Apollon to the Greeks and to the god of the sun to the Celtic. Beaune City was named “Belena” during the Roman period and “Bellene” in the Middle Ages.
