Reviews for 2010 Doisy-Vedrines Sauternes Blend

Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, April 2011
Thick and spicy with unctuous still slightly raw-seeming layers of apricot peach and fig. Ginger cream and green tea check in on the finish. Rather backward still but there's lots balled up. -J.M.

Nothing really exuberant here but lots of subtle fruit and spices. The palate shows pretty notes of oranges and cinnamon. Silky finish. Peaches and white fruits too.

Tasted at the château, the 2010 Château Doisy-Védrines has an elegant bouquet that does not quite deliver the intensity of either the 2009 or indeed, the 2011, but there are delightful scents of citrus fruit, yellow plum and quince to enjoy and the aromas are nicely delineated. The palate is focused and balanced with the hints of passion fruit that I noticed before, precise and poised with a linear finish. There is a pleasing sense of energy and tension to this wine. I could even imagine commencing a dinner with this instead of finishing - why not? Drink over the next two decades. - Neal Martin

Planted to clay-limestone soils. This citrus dominated style displays light notes of botrytis and is bright and focused from front to back. A good sense of sweetness is present without being cloying thanks to the high acids and the mouthfeel gives the impression of a light bodied wine. Enjoyable and linear but very light on the botrytis notes. Enjoy through 2035.
