Aged in 20% new oak planted to gravel and clay soils. . Bright and high-toned the nose is closed and backward at the same time with botrytis married to creamy citrus and stone fruit. On the palate this is beautifully textured round and rich with great acids that give it a weightless feel while still coating the mouth. This is loaded with toasted nuts spicy botrytis creamy citrus and a long mouth-watering finish. This will be a beautiful wine with 20 years of age but should start to show nicely in 10. One of the top Sauternes tasted for the vintage. Enjoy through 2040.

The Chateau de Fargues 2010 has a fresh and vibrant, well-delineated bouquet with peaches and cream, quince and buttercup on the pretty nose that unfolds in the glass. The palate is taut and linear on the entry with a silver thread of acidity lending this Sauternes race and class. There is ample freshness here and an effervescent quality that lends its life and vigor. Vivacious and appealing, this should age well for the next 20-30 years, possibly more. To repeat my comment from barrel: “This is another great de Fargues.” Chapeau! Drink 2016-2035+. - NEAL MARTIN

Unctuous and nicely formed already with juicy apricot green fig and honey notes. The finish is lush but with nice cut showing hints of toasted coconut and almond. Sneakily long. -J.M.

Aromas of lemon yellow peach passion fruit and flowers are by rosewater and a lovely hint of spicy botrytis. Fresh and sweet in the mouth with excellent balance to its smooth rich tropical fruit citrus and honeyed flavors. This seductive and very sweet wine struck me as a rather atypical Fargues in its restrained delivery of aromas and flavors; while it's not as flamboyant or explosively decadent as de Fargues usually is it boasts sneaky concentration. High but well-integrated acidity keeps it very light on its feet.

Very aromatic sweet wine the palate suffused with acidity as well as dried apricots fresh in character the spicy element adding to the structure of the wine.

Tastes as though real selection has gone into this wine although the sugar level is not that intense. And the overall impression is one of acidity plus only medium body and sweetness. I like the light marmalade hints though. RS 132 g/l TA 4 g/l. 17 out of 20
