The alcohol has climbed up a bit without any sacrifice of detail. Blackberry and plum aromas are complimented by notes of truffles, loamy earth and just a hint of cloves on a somewhat subdued nose. On the palate, the dark fruit shows nicely without being overly aggressive. The firm tannins provide a nice base of structure for the wine, while a touch of acidity add some lift on the finish. Still relatively tight, this wine, hailing from one of Washington State’s most famous vineyards, will likely improve with another 2-3 years in the bottle, and should show well for the following 2 decades.
