JS 94
James Suckling - jamessuckling.com, April 2011
Really bright character with dark berry tar light coffee and flowers on the nose and palate. Full and rich yet balanced and complex. Best ever from here?

Showing nice minerality already with a stony hint weaving through the supple plum and cassis fruit followed by a perfumy finish. Should be very suave when finished. -J.M.

A blend of 42% Merlot 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Petit Verdot the Chateau Siran '10 seems to mark a change in style for this Margaux cru that tended to be overblown in recent years. This is far more composed on the nose with pepper black fruits that remind me of the Loire. It is as if there is some Cabernet Franc in the blend but this must be emanating from the Petit Verdot. The palate is medium-bodied with a peppery entry quite rustic in some ways a little disjointed. They have certainly gone hell for leather with the Petit Verdot and whilst I don't think it quite made a great Margaux it has individuality and character. I will be intrigued to taste this after bottling.
