Potent nose suggests dark cherry violet and pipe tobacco plus a hint of Indian spices. Then big rich and sappy on the palate with a bitter medicinal quality to its dark fruit and floral pastille flavors. The very long youthfully taut finish lingers with noteworthy persistence and strong spiciness.

The 2010 St.-Joseph Domaine de la Croix des Vignes' dense ruby/purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of spring flowers lead pencil flint black currants cherry liqueur licorice and forest floor. This full-bodied stunning 2010 is every bit as good as the flashier more opulent 2009. The 2010 and 2011 Domaine de la Croix des Vignes are the finest St.-Josephs Jaboulet has produced in over twenty years.-Robert Parker
