Smooth, dry and classic but in a distinctly cooler style than the 2010, showing licorice and fresh herb notes and good chewy extract. Here the fine-grained tannins are a bit more obvious as there's less supporting mid-palate stuffing, but there's nothing green or underripe about this very well-balanced cool-year wine. -- Stephen Tanzer

Medium-bodied and rich, it should drink well early on and last for 10-12 years.- RP
