Chalky undertones from the soil. Full and chewy with a beautiful depth of fruit and intensity. So much going on here. Phenomenal depth of fruit. Why drink grand cru Burgundy? Better in 2017.

A powerful wine that's full of wood and ripe tropical-fruit flavors. It also has an intensely mineral structure that powers the wine right through to the concentrated finish. - R.V.

A blend of 85% Sauvignon Bland and 15% Semillon the Domaine de Chevalier Blanc has a very taut bouquet with scents of granite lemon rind and a touch of white peach and chalk dust. Great focus and intensity although it takes time to unwind. The palate is medium-bodied with a lovely elegant white peach and a drop of wild honey very good acidity and a caressing vanilla-tinged finish that shows great length. This is better than the red this year.

Rich dense and suave with mouthfilling flavors of peach nectar ripe orange and green fig. The finish is long and wonderfully mouthcoating with persistent notes of rosemary and oregano; leaves the palate refreshingly clean with its zippy lemony zing. Great stuff.

Very high-toned today with a whiff of talcum powder giving way to bright sweet pea and lime notes. The tightly wound finish lets herb and fleur de sel flecks peek out but there's serious length in reserve.-J.M.

Barrel fermented and aged in a combination of 35% new and 65% 2-year old oak. The nose leads with high toned citrus and beeswax aromas all tightly wound but well-delineated with a light touch of white peach underneath. Big and richly textured with loads of persistent sea shell and crushed rock flavors. Vibrant acidity really keeps this lively. This is classic Pessac white. A brilliant young wine that should age for decades. Stephane Derenoncourt consults.
