This is a full, ripe wine packed with black currant flavor, but also structured with solid tannins. With a juicy acidity on the finish, and boosted by its dry core, it’s certain to age well. Drink from 2018.

The Cantenac Brown tasted three times is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot cropped between 13th and 29th September finishing with the former. The nose is crisp and focused not complex but demonstrating nicely integrated oak and fine minerality. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fins acidity. This is elegant harmonious and a damn fine Margaux for the vintage that will offer medium-term drinking.

This has energy, with a bright iron note piercing the core of crushed plum, boysenberry and raspberry fruit. Subtle spice and toast shadings line the finish, showing good length. Drink now through 2024. – JM

This wine shows blueberry and raspberry character on the nose and palate. Full body with a pretty core of bright, tangy fruit and hints of citrus. Needs four or five years to soften. Better in 2018.

Perfumed, ripe black fruit. Soft tannins. Moderately lush - treads a nice line between opulence and structure. 17+/20 (RH)

Vines are planted on 54 hectares of gravel soils with a planting density of about 8500 vines per hectare. Dense opaque core with a crimson rim. This is a step up in aromatic complexity with an interesting array of black fruit on the nose including blackberry and super ripe black currant backed up with a touch of vanilla and subtle oak. Soft and elegant on the mid-palate with black fruit throughout. I like the finesse and balance here. Should benefit from at least a couple of years in bottle and then develop over the following 15 years.
