Emerging from fine, gravelly soils, Seguin, with history going back to the 1800s, has been making attractive wines for several years. Their 2011, composed of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, has turned out well in this troublesome year. Sexy, juicy, plum, black currant, blueberry and unsmoked cigar tobacco-like notes jump from the glass of this dense blue/ruby-colored wine. Medium-bodied with soft tannins as well as outstanding purity and texture, this beauty should develop quickly, so drink it over the next 7-8 years. It is a sleeper of the vintage. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
