Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Jean-Marc Boillot’s Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Combettes 2011 has a more austere nose than Etienne Sauzet’s, but it is equally engaging with slate and smoky aromas at first, touches of pear and even barley sugar. The palate is well balanced with nicely judged acidity. This is very composed with well-integrated oak, good depth and a consummate finish. Excellent. - Neal Martin

Pale yellow. Aromas of orange blossom and hazelnut along with a hint of minerality. Sweet rich and chewy with enticing sweetness leavened by juicy acidity. A step up in energy and power from the Champs-Canet. Finishes... Pale yellow. Aromas of orange blossom and hazelnut along with a hint of minerality.
