Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. There is a slight SO2 issue on the nose of Jacques Carillon’s Puligny-Montrachet Les Perrières 1er Cru 2011 that is smothering the fruit at the moment: faint beeswax and jasmine aromas emerging with time. The palate is ripe and spicy on the entry with touches of orange rind, ginger and citrus lemon. The finish shows fine definition and minerality – linear and focused, reserved but guaranteed to reward cellaring.- NM
