Juicy spicy and rather round with citrus and stone flavors opening in the glass. Ultimately sweeter and softer than the Cote de Lechet and nicely concentrated for the year. This wine has been in older barrels for the past three months; it will be racked and assembled in September.

An ever-so-mildly exotic but agreeably fresh and bright nose speaks of yellow fruits and just enough Chablis character to be persuasive. An ever-so-mildly exotic but agreeably fresh and bright nose speaks of yellow fruits and just enough Chablis character to be persuasive. There is good mid-palate density to the fleshy even succulent medium-bodied flavors that are not only delicious but possess good focus balance and salinity on the finish. This is pretty much textbook Beauroy that should offer 3 to 4 years of upside cellar potential.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy is slightly lighter on the nose than Forrey’s Clos de Léchet, although it has superb delineation and focus, with a subtle estuarine influence. The palate is well balanced with nicely judged acidity, focused and feminine, with citrus lemon and a hint of orange rind on the saline finish. This is very composed and graceful. - Neal Martin
