(91+) The 2011 Morgon from Château des Jacques is outstanding and will only need a couple of years in the cellar to really start to drink well. The pure and vibrant nose wafts from the glass in a blend of cherries, pomegranate, fresh thyme, a lovely base of granite minerality, woodsmoke and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with a rock solid core, moderate tannins and very good length and grip on the focused and youthful finish. This needs a couple of years in the cellar to fully integrate its new wood component, but it will have no difficulties doing so and should be a superb bottle of Morgon for a long time to come. (Drink between 2016-2035)
